Smart Drivers Roll With Fuel Efficiency

With the summer driving season in full swing and thousands of motorists getting set to hit the highway this long weekend, drivers are reminded they can save at the pumps by ensuring their tires are properly inflated.

If you are thinking of building a wooden swing set for your backyard you should definitely check out the internet. There are loads of plans available to download online at the click of a mouse. You may also be able to find plans at your local hardware store, or even from a swing set retailer. The building plans are designed for people who have no previous building experience so anyone can succeed without too much time or effort invested in the project.Step TwoAccording to the Rubber Association of Canada (RAC), which represents tire makers, the average Canadian motorist who drives 20,000 kilometers per year can save more than $100 dollars at the pumps if their tires are properly inflated. For drivers who spend considerably more time behind the wheel, the annual fuel savings can add up to hundreds of dollars.Every year Canadian drivers waste millions of litres of fuel simply because their tires are not inflated to the vehicle manufacturer's recommendation. In 2011, Natural Resources Canada estimates that under-inflated tires will waste 533 million litres of fuel at a cost of $722 million in unnecessary fuel bills. This wasted full, which is enough to power 275,000 vehicles for a full year, will also release an additional 1.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.Step FourWhy does an under-inflated tire burn more fuel? A tire that is under-inflated does not roll as smoothly or as easily as it was intended. The result is increased rolling resistance, which causes the vehicle to consume more fuel than necessary. It is worth noting that if you not feel confident that you can find all the necessary hardware on your own you can still have some fun building your own wooden swing set. There is another option available to you: in addition to plans you can also purchase swing set kits. While these may cost you a little more they do come will all the necessary hardware and accessories, which should save you quite a bit of time. There are different styles, sizes and shapes of swing sets on market to meet different needs of families. From one seat swing to couples swings coming with other accessories, prices vary a lot from hundreds to thousands dollars. The most common swing sets that are standing in public playground are made of metal which is sturdy and cheap. One of the big disadvantage of metal swing sets is that they are easy to get rusted leading to safety concerns except those are made of galvanized steel. On the other hand, wooden swing sets are regard as safest sets and gaining more and more popularity. Choose right swing sets for kids basing on space, budget and your preferences.- Add air until the recommended air pressure is achieved. If you overfill the tire, release air by pushing on the metal stem in the centre of the valve, then re-check the pressure. The plans always come with a very detailed list of everything you will need to complete the build. They list all the hardware you will need in great detail, all the accessories and swing seats as well as exact measurement of every piece of wood require to complete the swing set.The plans will detail the exact measurement of all the required pieces of timber. It is absolutely essential that you make sure the wood you purchase is either pre-treated to resist outdoor conditions, or that you take the time to make it weather resistant by treating it yourself before you start building the set. This step is definitely not a waste of time if you want to make sure that your new swing set doesn’t get completely ruined at the first sign of rain! The RAC's study also revealed that more than half of drivers (58%) were aware of work done by Canada's provincial Tire Stewardship Boards to manage scrap tire recycling operations and lengthen tire life through public education. Of this group, the vast majority (81%) were either "very satisfied" or "satisfied" with the manner in which scrap tires are managed.Tire makers recommend an easy, four-step approach to proper tire inflation:

Step OneThe RAC recommends motorists take fuel economy and environmental protection into their own hands by buying a reliable tire gauge and using it at least once a month to ensure their tires are always inflated to the vehicle manufacturer's recommendation. The RAC Tire Inflation and Attitudinal Study interviewed 1,811 drivers. The results are considered accurate within /- 2.5 percent, 19 times out of 20.Despite these obvious benefits, too many Canadian drivers ignore tire inflation. According to a recent study commissioned by the RAC, one third of Canada's 21 million vehicles have at least one under-inflated tire, and only 30 per cent of drivers measure their tire pressures monthly. In addition to the list of things you will need the plans usually anticipate your next question: where to get the stuff from. Swing sets require specialist hardware and anchors to be safe to use, which can sometimes be difficult to find locally. With a list of suppliers including online retailers that stock the pieces you need the plans take out any possible frustration that may otherwise have come with such a project.Once you have decided to decorate your backyard with an outdoor swing set, make a plan. Think through your yard, if possible, draw a rough sketch and mark in basic measurements. By doing this you will get basic idea of space in order to determine the size of swing set. Alternatively you may be interesting in large playsets that come with many varieties of playground equipments besides numbers of swings, such as climb wall, fort and sandpit. Keep in mind that leave enough space around swing set so kids can play around without getting hurts.- Find the recommended inflation pressure for your tires on the vehicle placard. Check the owner's manual for its exact location.Learn more, visit www.betiresmart.ca .
