So Your Kids Are Bored: 5 Tips For Combating Boredom In Your Children

Nothing can drive us more nuts than when our kids, with their house full of high-tech toys and out-of-this world video games keep coming into the home office, laundry room, or kitchen to tell us how bored they are. How in the world can you be bored? It seems they've got everything they need, but if you think back on your own childhood, you'll probably realize you had the same problem from time to time. Here's a few tips for dealing with these situations when you really just don't have the time to play "entertainer" to your kids.

Much of modern paranoia is simply caused by media coverage of only the darkest things in humanity. As mentioned before, playing is a child's natural means of developing thinking skills and keeping their body in shape. It helps them to grow into a healthier adult. Encourage active playing by creating an area in your yard just for thisa small play set is rather cheap these days and eliminates the need to bring them to the park all the time. One place we can encourage a different kind of childhood is the homehere are 5 ways to provide an environment that promotes a healthier, more productive childhood. While you're at it, get rid of the television. If anything, at least get rid of the cable and save the screen for movie nights if you're budget is too tight for the cinema. We all know nothing much good comes out of a TV set.Hand in hand with that trend is the growing use of mobile technology, which is set to dwarf any form of communication we have ever seen. People that do leave their computers often have some type of mobile device in hand and spend a great deal of their time checking into their social media accounts anyhow. This distracts them from what they are doing and makes it more likely their idle time will be spend being, well, idle.4. Busy ParentsYou don't need to buy every tool in the world, but leaving some props around for kids to play with can alleviate problems. Again, not new-fangled toyswhich often lose their appealbut the stuff that never gets old. A set of mitts, a bat, and a few baseballs. Jump ropes. Badminton set. Board games. A makeshift kid-sized basketball hoop and a swing. Those sort of things.4. ChoresWhen you take away the television, your home life is not thrown into the Stone Age, believe it or not. Instead, it encourages you and your family to be more creative with your time, spending it instead on hobbies or relationships. It's something that may do you a lot of good as well.Kids get lost in books. They exercise their mind, learn about the world, learn to think for themselves, and find a place where other people talk about the problems they'll deal with in their daily livesand how to find solutions for those problems.

You know, it is important for us to stimulate our children's minds, keep them active, and keep them from being distracted by unhealthy habits, but it isn't our job to put on a bunny suit 24/7 and dance around for them either. As always, balance is bestso figure out a few great ways to deal with boredom when you're in no position to handle it for them, and it will make your busy days a lot easier.
